The Ironbridge International Institute of Cultural Heritage held its second international conference of 2013, Rust, Regeneration and Romance: Iron and Steel Landscapes, in the picturesque setting of Ironbridge last week.
The conference, held in association with the Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust, welcomed over 130 delegates from some 30 countries.
Three engaging keynote speeches were delivered by Professor Patrick Martin (Professor of Archaeology and Department Chair of Social Sciences at Michigan Technological University), Sir Neil Cossons, and Dr Dietrich Soyez (Sun Yat-sen University/P.R. of China).
A variety of themes were discussed during the sessions, exploring the complex and challenging relationships which exist between the many forms and formats of tangible and intangible heritage and the materials of iron and steel.
Various publications from the conference will emerge over the coming months. For further details, conference abstracts and publication details please visit the conference website.
